 CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS
Mars Confectionery

World's leading producer of confectionery, pet and main meal foods, turn over £30 billion. Slough is the largest in corporation with over 2500 employees and turnover of £500 million.

RELIABILITY ENGINEER To implement factory wide maintenance systems to ensure plant and equipment run at maximum efficiencies at all times . ‘Turn reactive maintenance into pro active maintenance’

            Manage team of 20 associates to implement planned maintenance and works order system.

                Develop maintenance systems across all production lines and ensure they are kept ‘live’.

                Introduce maintenance systems to operations and ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to agreed standards.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER  Co-ordinate the activities of operations, engineering, maintenance and technical services to produce Twix to schedule and design specifications at the highest quality and lowest cost to the business.

Team leader in implementation of reducing Quality defects on the Twix line from 7% to 4%.

Managed Energy Island project on Twix line to optimise energy usage leading to savings in excess of £100k per annum.

Organised and supervised line shutdowns and planned maintenance days more effectively which has lead to increase line utilisation  from 90% to 96% in one year.

Introduced weigh system costing £2500 to control costs of raw ingredients in the manufacture of Twix  to accrue annual savings of  £100k.

Installed plant costing £20k to make annual savings of £100k by reducing level of scrap caramel  to drain.

Periodically monitor raw material usage trends on Twix and ensure operations management team take corrective action.

Open communication established between all services teams to ensure projects are kept in line with current Quality, Value and Service targets.

Supported project manager on new production line installation of £3.5 million.

Identified and currently implementing plant modifications to reduce waste in several areas in Twix.

OPERATIONS MANAGER   recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organise as needed to improve operational efficiency.

Reduced asset base of major production line valued at £12 million by £1.5 million.

Responsible for efficient running and maintenance of £12 million major brand line.

Planned and controlled all major line shutdowns and managed work load of 30 associates.

Won approval to implement efficiency monitoring computers for high speed wrapping machines resulting in machine efficiency from 80% to 85%.
               
Ensure raw materials and packaging excesses kept to minimum, ran teams in process and wrapping room to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

Trained Technicians in use of Plant and Systems were necessary in particular on Loss In Weight  systems which has lead to more efficient use of plant and raw ingredients.

TRAINING MANAGER To implement factory wide strategy to increase associates skills profile.

Implementation of Technical training activities across the Slough plant.

Identified training needs analysis, wrote training manuals, help design training school and trained 400 plant operators in process and wrapping mechanical skills.
