Interesting. I have yet to explore the full site. Just wanted to mention that when I lived on the riverside in Mangochi town some 12 years ago I saw a serval hunting in the marshy/grassy area (now flooded and full of reeds/bullrushes. The river was very, very low and almost stopped flowing much to ESCOM's alarm) on the East Bank of the Shire River just a few kilometres north of the town. The grass was tall and it was hunting by leaping high into the air I presume to come down on some rodent in the grass. I have subscribed to your blog. STUNNING!! This new pack of dogs found in Kasungu National Park 11th. February 2011. Nine dogs in all. I believe them to be a different pack to ones that we saw in October 2010.
I wonder what they told the hire company. Kwaito was one of the large elephants in Hluhluwe and used to rest his head on the top of vehicles. He was never aggresive and many people got thousands of hours of pleasure watching him in the reserve. I love this picture as it is a beautiful example of tourists getting too close to the animals. In Malawi if you tried this you wouldn't be around to tell the tale.
